A violin virtuoso, composer, educator, and personality renowned across musical genres.

Coming from a family of musicians, he studied at the Conservatory in Topolčany under Russian professor Oleg ter Martirosov. Ivan Herák is among the most sought-after Roma violin virtuosos, known for his charismatic expression, exceptional musicality, and improvisational skills. A much-demanded performer and primarius of several Roma bands, he is actively engaged in concerts on Czech and international stages and at renowned festivals throughout Europe (Menuhin Festival – Gstaad, Switzerland; Martinů Festtage – Basel, Switzerland; Czech Touches of Music; Concentus Moraviae; Sinti Roma Festival; Nationwide Festival of Roma Violinists, and many more). His extensive discography includes collaborations with esteemed cultural figures such as Jaroslav Svěcený, Zuzana Lapčíková, Yvetta Blanarovičová, Iva Bittová, Ida Kelarová, and Lubomír Brabec. As a soloist, he also performs with the Talich Chamber Orchestra and the South Bohemian Philharmonic, for which he has created numerous transcriptions and other musical works.
